Abstract

It was established a trial in order to measure insecticides effectiveness and the effect of pruning the guides of the melon cultivation (Cucumis melo). The experimental design was a completely randomized block design with a 6x2 factorial arrangement with four repetitions. insecticides were endosulfan, tiociclam hidrogenona, pimetrozina, acetamiprid, teflubenzuron, tefubenozide and a control plot. The second factor was the pruning of the guides of the melon plant. Results indicated a tendency of reducing aphid populations (Aphis gossypii) in which the guides were pruned. About the number of white flies (Bemisia tabaci) per leaf, it was not observed a clear tendency. Insecticides with best aphid and white files control were acetamiprid followed by pimetrozina. Tiociclam controlled well white flies but not aphids. Teflubenzuron, tefubenozide and acetamiprid controlled efficiently the driller of the fruit.
